68 – Al-Qalam
| (1) ነ.(ኑን)፤ በብርእ እምላለሁ በዚያም (መልአኮች) በሚጽፉት፡፡ | (1) Nūn. By the pen and what they [the angels] write [in the Records of men], |
| (2) አንተ በጌታህ ጸጋ የተጎናጸፍክ ስትኾን ዕብድ አይደለህም፡፡ | (2) By the grace of your Lord [O Prophet], you are not a madman. |
| (3) ላንተም (ከጌታህ) የማይቋረጥ ዋጋ በእርግጥ አልለህ፡፡ | (3) You will surely have a never-ending reward. |
| (4) አንተም በታላቅ ጠባይ ላይ ነህ፡፡ | (4) Indeed, you are of a great moral character. |
| (5) ወደፊትም ታያለህ፤ ያያሉም፡፡ | (5) Soon you will see and they will see, |
| (6) ዕብደት በማንኛችሁ እንዳልለ፡፡ | (6) which of you is afflicted with madness. |
| (7) ጌታህ እርሱ ከመንገዱ የተሳሳተውን ሰው ዐዋቂ ነው፡፡ እርሱም ተመሪዎቹን ዐዋቂ ነው፡፡ | (7) Indeed, your Lord alone knows best who has strayed from His way and those who are rightly guided. |
| (8) ለአስተባባዮችም አትታዝዙ፡፡ | (8) So do not obey the deniers. |
| (9) ብትመሳሰላቸውና ቢመሳሰሉህ ተመኙ፡፡ | (9) They wish that you would compromise so they would too compromise. |
| (10) ወራዳንም ሁሉ አትታዘዝ፡፡ | (10) And do not obey every disgraceful swearer, |
| (11) ሰውን አነዋሪንና በማሳበቅ ኼያጅን፡፡ | (11) backbiter, gossip-monger, |
| (12) ለበጎ ነገር በጣም ከልካይን፣ ወሰን አላፊን፣ ኃጢአተኛን፤ | (12) withholder of good, transgressor, sinful, |
| (13) ልበ ደረቅን፣ ከዚህ በኋላ ዲቃላን (ሁሉ አትታዘዝ)፡፡ | (13) coarse, and furthermore, an illegitimate child. |
| (14) የገንዘብና የልጆች ባለቤት በመኾኑ (ያስተባብላል)፡፡ | (14) Simply because he has wealth and children, |
| (15) በእርሱ ላይ አንቀጾቻችን በሚነበቡ ጊዜ «የመጀመሪያዎቹ ሰዎች ተረቶች ናቸው» ይላል፡፡ | (15) When Our verses are recited to him, he says, “Ancient fables!” |
| (16) በአፍንጫው ላይ በእርግጥ (የሚነወርበት) ምልክት እናደርግበታለን፡፡ | (16) We will soon brand him on the snout. |
| (17) እኛ የአትክልቲቱን ባለቤቶቸ እንደ ሞከርን (የመካን ሰዎች) ሞከርናቸው፡፡ ማልደው (ፍሬዋን) ሊለቅሟት በማሉ ጊዜ፡፡ | (17) Indeed, We have tested them [the Makkans] as We tested the people of the garden, when they swore to harvest its fruits in the early morning, |
| (18) (በመሓላቸው) አያስቀሩምም፡፡ | (18) and made no exception [by saying: if Allah wills]. |
| (19) እነርሱ የተኙ ኾነውም ሳሉ ከጌታህ የኾነ ዟሪ በእርሷ ላይ ዞረባት፡፡ | (19) Then it was struck by an affliction from your Lord while they were asleep, |
| (20) እንደ ሌሊት ጨለማም ኾና አነጋች፤ (ከሰለች)፡፡ | (20) and it turned to ashes as black as night. |
| (21) ያነጉም ኾነው ተጠራሩ፡፡ | (21) Then in the early morning they called out to one another: |
| (22) «ቆራጮች እንደ ኾናችሁ በእርሻቸሁ ላይ ማልዱ» በማለት፡፡ | (22) “Go early to your garden if you really wish to harvest.” |
| (23) እነርሱ የሚንሾካሾኩ ኾነው ኼዱም፡፡ | (23) So they set out, whispering to one another, |
| (24) ዛሬ በእናንተ ላይ ድኻ እንዳይገባት በማለት፡፡ | (24) “Not a single poor person should enter your garden today.” |
| (25) (ድኾችን) በመከልከልም ላይ (በሐሳባቸው) ቻዮች ኾነው ማለዱ፡፡ | (25) And they left early, fully determined to stick to their plan. |
| (26) (ተቃጥላ) ባዩዋትም ጊዜ «እኛ በእርግጥ ተሳሳቾች ነን» አሉ፡፡ | (26) But when they saw the garden, they said, “We must have lost our way! |
| (27) «ይልቁንም እኛ የተከለከልን ነን» አሉ፡፡ | (27) Rather, we have been deprived.” |
| (28) ትክክለኛቸው «ለእናንተ አላህን ለምን አታጠሩም አላልኳችሁምን?» አላቸው፡፡ | (28) The best among them said, “Did I not say to you to glorify Allah?” |
| (29) «ጌታችን ጥራት ይገባው፡፡ እኛ በዳዮች ነበርን፤» አሉ፡፡ | (29) They said, “Glory be to our Lord! We were truly wrongdoers.” |
| (30) የሚወቃቀሱም ኾነው ከፊሎቻቸው በከፊሉ ላይ መጡ፡፡ | (30) Then they turned to one another, throwing blame. |
| (31) «ዋ ጥፋታችን! እኛ ድንበር አላፊዎች ነበርን፤» አሉ፡፡ | (31) They said, “Woe to us! We were surely transgressors. |
| (32) «ጌታችን ከእርሷ የተሻለን (አትክልት) ሊለውጠን ይከጀላል፡፡ እኛ ወደ ጌታችን ከጃዮች ነን፤» (አሉ)፡፡ | (32) Our Lord may give us something better than this. We certainly turn to our Lord in hope.” |
| (33) ቅጣቱ እንደዚሁ ነው፡፡ የመጨረሻይቱም ዓለም ቅጣት ታላቅ ነው፡፡ የሚያውቁት በኾኑ ኖሮ (በተጠነቀቁ ነበር)፡፡ | (33) Such is the punishment [in this world]; but the punishment of the Hereafter is far worse, if only they knew. |
| (34) ለጥንቁቆቹ በጌታቸው ዘንድ መጠቀሚያ ገነቶች አሏቸው፡፡ | (34) Indeed, the righteous will have gardens of bliss with their Lord. |
| (35) ሙስሊሞቹን እንደ ከሓዲዎች እናደርጋለን? | (35) Should We then treat Muslims like the wicked? |
| (36) ለእናንተ ምን (አስረጅ) አላችሁ? እንዴት ትፈርዳላችሁ፡፡ | (36) What is the matter with you that you make such a judgment? |
| (37) በእውነቱ ለእናንተ በእርሱ የምታጠኑበት መጽሐፍ አላችሁን? | (37) Or do you have a scripture in which you read |
| (38) በውስጡ ለእናንተ የምትመርጡት አላችሁ (የሚል) | (38) that you will be given whatever you choose? |
| (39) ወይስ ለእናንተ የምትፈርዱት አላችሁ በማለት (ቃል ኪዳን የገባንላችሁ) እስከ ትንሣኤ ቀን ደራሽ የኾኑ መሓላዎች ለእናንተ በእኛ ላይ አሏችሁን? | (39) Or do you have a solemn promise binding upon Us until the Day of Resurrection, that you will have whatever you decide for yourselves? |
| (40) በዚህ ማንኛቸው ተያያዥ እንደ ኾነ ጠይቃቸው፡፡ | (40) Ask them which of them can guarantee that. |
| (41) ወይስ ለእነርሱ (በፍርዳቸው ተስማሚ) «ተጋሪዎች» አሏቸውን? እውነተኞችም እንደኾኑ «ተጋሪዎቻቸውን» ያምጡ፡፡ | (41) Or do they have associate-gods? Then let them bring forth their associate-gods, if they are truthful. |
| (42) ባት የሚገለጥበትን (ከሓዲዎች) ወደ መስገድም የሚጥጠሩበትንና የማይችሉበት ቀን (አስታውስ)፡፡ | (42) On the Day when the Shin [of Allah] will be uncovered, and they are invited to prostrate, but they will not be able to do so. |
| (43) ዓይኖቻቸው የፈሩ ውርደት የምትሸፍናቸው ሲኾኑ፤ (ወደ ስግደት የሚጠሩበትን)፤ እነርሱም (በምድረ ዓለም) ደህና ኾነው ሳሉ ወደ ስግደት በእርግጥ ይጠሩ ነበሩ፡፡ | (43) Their eyes will be downcast, overwhelmed with humiliation, for they were invited to prostrate when they were capable [but they refused]. |
| (44) በዚህም ንግግር ከሚያስተባብሉት ሰዎች ጋር ተዎኝ፡፡ (እነርሱን እኔ እበቃሃለሁ)፡፡ ከማያውቁት ስፍራ አዘናግተን እንይዛቸዋለን፡፡ | (44) So leave to Me those who reject this message [O Prophet]. We will gradually lead them to their ruin in ways that they do not perceive. |
| (45) እነርሱንም አዘገያለሁ፡፡ ዘዴዬ ብርቱ ነውና፡፡ | (45) I will give them respite, but My plan is firm. |
| (46) በእውነቱ ዋጋን ትጠይቃቸዋለህን? ስለዚህ እነርሱ ከዕዳ የተከበዱ ናቸውን? | (46) Or are you asking them for a reward, so they find it too burdensome? |
| (47) ወይስ እነርሱ ዘንድ የሩቁ ምስጢር ዕውቀት አልለን? ስለዚህ እነርሱ ይጽፋሉን? | (47) Or do they have knowledge of the unseen, so they write it down? |
| (48) ለጌታህም ፍርድ ታገሥ፤ (በመበሳጨትና ባለ መታገሥ) እንደ ዓሣው ባለቤትም (እንደ ዮናስ) አትኹን፡፡ እርሱ በጭንቀት የተመላ ኾኖ (ጌታውን) በተጣራ ጊዜ፡፡ | (48) So be patient with the decree of your Lord, and do not be like [Jonah], the man of the Whale, when he cried out in anguish. |
| (49) ከጌታው የኾነ ጸጋ ባላገኘው ኖሮ በምድረ በዳ ተወቃሽ ኾኖ በተጣለ ነበር፡፡ | (49) Had it not been for the grace that he received from his Lord, he would have surely been thrown onto the barren shore, blameworthy. |
| (50) ጌታውም (በነቢይነት) መረጠው፡፡ ከደጋጎቹም አደረገው፡፡ | (50) But his Lord chose him, and made him one of the righteous. |
| (51) እነሆ እነዚያም የካዱት ሰዎች ቁርኣኑን በሰሙ ጊዜ በዓይኖቻቸው ሊጥሉህ (ሊያጠፉህ) ይቀርባሉ፡፡ «እርሱም በእርግጥ ዕብድ ነው» ይላሉ፡፡ | (51) The disbelievers would almost strike you down with their malicious gazes when they hear the Reminder, and they say, “He is certainly mad.” |
| (52) ግን እርሱ (ቁርኣን) ለዓለማት መገሰጫ እንጂ ሌላ አይደለም፡፡ | (52) But it is nothing other than a reminder to the whole world. |
