| (1) በፀሐይና በብርሃኗ እምላለሁ፡፡ |
(1) By the sun and its brightness, |
| (2) በጨረቃም በተከተላት ጊዜ፤ |
(2) and by the moon as it follows it, |
| (3) በቀኑም (ፀሐይን) በገለጻት ጊዜ፤ |
(3) and by the day as it displays it, |
| (4) በሌሊቱም በሸፈናት ጊዜ፤ |
(4) and by the night as it covers it, |
| (5) በሰማይቱም በገነባትም (ጌታ)፤ |
(5) and by the sky and how He made it, |
| (6) በምድሪቱም በዘረጋትም፤ |
(6) and by the earth and how He spread it, |
| (7) በነፍስም ባስተካከላትም፤ |
(7) and by the soul and how He fashioned it, |
| (8) አመጽዋንና ፍርሃትዋንም ባሳወቃት (አምላክ እምላለሁ)፡፡ |
(8) then inspired it [to know] its wickedness and righteousness, |
| (9) (ከኀጢኣት) ያጠራት ሰው ፍላጎቱን በእርግጥ አገኘ፡፡ |
(9) Indeed, he who purifies his soul will attain success, |
| (10) (በኀጢኣት) የሸፈናትም ሰው በእውነት አፈረ፡፡ |
(10) and he who corrupts it will be doomed. |
| (11) ሠሙድ ወሰን በማለፍዋ አስተባበለች፡፡ |
(11) Thamūd rejected [the messenger] because of their transgression, |
| (12) ጠማማዋ በተንቀሳቀሰ ጊዜ፡፡ |
(12) when the most wretched among them rose [to kill the camel]. |
| (13) ለእነርሱም የአላህ መልክተኛ (ሷሊህ) «የአላህን ግመል የመጠጥ ተራዋንም (ተጠንቀቁ)» አላቸው፡፡ |
(13) Although the messenger of Allah warned them, “Hands off the she-camel of Allah and her drink!” |
| (14) አስተባበሉትም፡፡ (ቋንጃዋን) ወጓትም፡፡ በኀጢኣታቸውም ምክንያት ጌታቸው (ቅጣትን) በእነርሱ ላይ ደመደመባቸው፤ አስተካከላትም፡፡ |
(14) Yet they rejected him and hamstrung her. So their Lord destroyed them for their sin and leveled them to the ground. |
| (15) ፍጻሜዋንም (የምታስከትለውን) አያፈራም፡፡ |
(15) And He has no fear of the consequences thereof. |
