| (1) አንብብ በዚያ (ሁሉን) በፈጠረው ጌታህ ስም፡፡ |
(1) Read in the name of your Lord Who created, |
| (2) ሰውን ከረጋ ደም በፈጠረው (ጌታህ ስም)፡፡ |
(2) created man from a clinging clot. |
| (3) አንብብ፤ ጌታህ በጣም ቸር ሲኾን፤ |
(3) Read, and your Lord is the Most Generous, |
| (4) ያ በብርዕ ያስተማረ፡፡ |
(4) Who taught by the pen, |
| (5) ሰውን ያላወቀውን ሁሉ ያሳወቀ ሲኾን፡፡ |
(5) taught man what he did not know. |
| (6) በእውነቱ ሰው ወሰንን ያልፋል፡፡ |
(6) Indeed, man transgresses |
| (7) ራሱን የተብቃቃ (ባለ ሀብት) ኾኖ ለማየቱ፡፡ |
(7) when he deems himself to be self-sufficient. |
| (8) መመለሻው ወደ ጌታህ ብቻ ነው፡፡ |
(8) Indeed, to your Lord is the return. |
| (9) አየህን? ያንን የሚከለክለውን፡፡ |
(9) Have you seen the one who prevents |
| (10) ባሪያን በሰገደ ጊዜ፤ |
(10) a slave [of Allah] from praying? |
| (11) አየህን? ንገረኝ (ተከልካዩ) በትክክለኛ መንገድ ላይ ቢኾን፤ |
(11) What if this [slave] is rightly guided, |
| (12) ወይም (ፈጣሪውን) በመፍራት ቢያዝ፤ |
(12) and enjoins righteousness? |
| (13) አየህን? ንገረኝ (ከልካዩ) ቢያስተባብልና (ከእምነት) ቢሸሽ፤ |
(13) How about the one who denies and turns away? |
| (14) አላህ የሚያይ መኾኑን አያውቅምን? |
(14) Does he not know that Allah is watching all? |
| (15) ይተው ባይከለከል አናቱን ይዘን እንጎትተዋለን፡፡ |
(15) No indeed; if he does not desist, We will surely drag him by the forelock – |
| (16) ውሸታም ስሕተተኛ የኾነችውን አናቱን፡፡ |
(16) a lying, sinful forelock. |
| (17) ሸንጎውንም ይጥራ፡፡ |
(17) So let him call his associates; |
| (18) (እኛም) ዘበኞቻችንን እንጠራለን፡፡ |
(18) We will call the wardens of Hellfire. |
| (19) ይከልከል አትታዘዘው፡፡ ስገድም፤ (ወደ አላህ) ተቃረብም፡፡ |
(19) No indeed; do not obey him, but prostrate and draw near [to Allah]. |
